Background
Creative Brief
In 2610, after many years of experiments, a research group was established with the task of obtaining intact DNA of animals that had become extinct millions of years ago.
The first attempt to travel into the past seemed successful until leaving the vehicle. Instead of the expected dense jungle, gigantic plants and animals, and air rich in oxygen, they found a terramorphed planet, whose atmosphere contained elements unknown to the instruments.
Not far from the landing site, one could see something that could be called a metropolis. At first glance, it was clear that the civilization dominating this globe was at a much more advanced level than the civilization of the travelers. Monumental buildings rose smoothly from the surface of the earth - they looked as if they were an integral whole with the planet, although one could see clearly separated elements that certainly did not arise naturally. Strange, gigantic objects levitated in the air, differing in structure from the city buildings and most likely tasked with obtaining energy from a nearby star. Although there was no snow here, the outside temperature, according to the sensors, was below −150 degrees Celsius.
The planet itself had much lower gravity than Earth. The vegetation was rather poor but majestic - flexible flora climbed without resistance a dozen or so meters into the air. The lowest ridges were overgrown with something resembling the structure of moss, with the difference that it reached to the knees, and its "spores" cyclically opened and closed, releasing a cloud of glowing particles.
From a distance, one could see the inhabitants, who also had a humanoid shape. The form of communication between these creatures was unknown - no specific movements, sounds or waves suggesting a remote flow of thoughts were recorded. Their robes were richly decorated, beautiful and spacious, bringing to mind descriptions from fantasy books, although one could also observe elements that were most likely local gadgets powered by some kind of energy.
The air supply in the suits was enough for less than 24 hours of research, so a quick return was necessary. It turned out that the machine worked correctly, but the scientists did not take into account the theory of multiple realities. Subsequent journeys ended in complete success.
